In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. ~Albert Schweitzer
I first met A in high school through a mutual friend and we've never talked much except having a one-time common class for Home Economics. In fact, that's all I remember of her until 3 years later when we met in a restaurant where she was working part-time. We said our hi and byes, and never saw or contacted each other again.
Not until yesterday I came across on a segment she was doing for a radio station, BFM about sports. I contacted her on Facebook to see if she needed any information on what I know. And there we were, meeting each other after so many years chatting away like old pals. What stroked me most was how much we had in common despite differences in life. We talked about the past we endured, the present and the future that we both dreamt.
I can only simply express my happiness and gratitude for her as a human being for being such an inspiration. It is not easy to stand on your own two feet when you're 23, losing both parents and still find so much joy and grace in life.
Mom's right. Sometimes, friendship comes to you in a very special way when you needed the most.
Social network ain't that bad after all and for that, cheers to Facebook!
